Trade Alert >> Mackenzie Sedgwick ’02

Oliver Paipoonge ON | The Kam River Fighting Walleye are pleased to announce the acquisition of ‘02 forward Mackenzie Sedgwick from the Rayside Balfour Canadians (NOJHL), in exchange for a
player development fee.

The Thunder Bay-born Sedgwick is an alumnus of the Thunder Bay Kings AAA organization, having spent the past two seasons with the U18 squad, where he posted 22 points in 39 games from 2018 to 2020.

“I’m very excited to be joining a young organization and looking forward to the new opportunity,” said Sedgwick.

Kam River general manager Kevin McCallum is happy to bring Sedgwick on board to play with his hometown team. “When the opportunity comes up to bring a player like MacKenzie back home, and knowing what he brings to our line up on and off the ice, it’s extremely exciting for our program,” said McCallum. “To say the future looks bright for Oliver Paipoonge’s team is an understatement.”

Prior to his stint with the U18 Kings, which included an NAPHL championship as well as an appearance in the Telus Cup national U18 championship tournament, Sedgwick posted 8 points in 17
regular season games for the Kings U16 club in 2017-18.

“Based on my interactions with Sedg over the years and in speaking to many of his past coaches, we feel fortunate to have him here in Kam River,” said Fighting Walleye head coach Matt Valley. “He's
a fantastic player, but more importantly, an exceptional person. So, he fits the Walleye mold perfectly, in respect to both his game and character. My staff and I are excited to see what he can
bring to the table now and moving forward for this franchise,” concluded Valley.
