Walleye Announce 3-Year Extension for GM McCallum

Oliver Paipoonge, ON - The Kam River Fighting Walleye are pleased to announce a 3 year contract extension for General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Kevin McCallum. The deal runs to the end of the 2024-25 season.

“On behalf of the entire Fighting Walleye Organization, and Dorsal Fin Entertainment group and it’s partners, I would like to congratulate Kevin on his contract extension,” said team President Derek Geddes. “It has been a pleasure working with him over the last couple seasons. What he has done with his hockey operations group over the last two years, in extremely tough conditions, is incredible. His attention to detail and tenacious work ethic has been infectious to everyone in our organization. I look forward to continuing to work with Kevin to make Walleye hockey the best it can be,” Geddes said.

McCallum orchestrated the building of a club that captured the SIJHL regular season crown in it’s first full season in the tier 2 Junior A ranks. The Walleye will play in the Bill Salonen Cup Finals after sweeping their cross-town rival North Stars in 4 straight games. “Having Kevin captain this ship has been an integral part of our hockey club,” said Fighting Walleye VP of business operations Colin Campbell. “His clear vision is communicated and reinforced at every level of our organization. There is no single formula for building championship teams, but with Kevin McCallum at the helm, our organization will always be working hard to be at the top,” Campbell said.

McCallum has also been instrumental in helping his graduating players secure college hockey commitments. The veteran hockey executive has seen five of his graduating 20 year olds commit to college hockey programs this season, with two more expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Fighting Walleye VP of hockey operations Brad Collins concluded: “Kevin has created a winning culture within our dressing room and organization in a very short period of time. With this contract extension, Kevin’s vision and expertise will continue to attract great athletes and great people. Our organization is extremely grateful for Kevin’s unparalleled dedication, attention to detail and professionalism. With eager anticipation, we can’t wait to see what Kevin and his staff have in store for the Kam River Fighting Walleye’s future.”
