Fighting Walleye partners with Toys for Tots

Thunder Bay, ON | The Kam River Fighting Walleye are happy to announce a partnership with a local charity for thei

r December 6th Fishin' For Dollars 50/50 draw, presented by BDO. A portion of the proceeds from the draw will go to the Toys for Tots charity.

“The Fighting Walleye are pleased to partner with such a worthwhile cause. We have been a supporter of Toys for Tots since our start back in the LJHL, and we usually host a game in support of the cause but in this unique year we have had to become a bit more creative,” explained Walleye President Derek Geddes. “This is a great way to help support an important charity and have an opportunity to win a minimum of $1000 jackpot on Dec 6th.”

Paul Penna, Chair of the Toys for Tots Campaign, is looking forward to another Christmas collaboration with the Fighting Walleye.

“In this 'Covid Year' the Thunder Bay Professional Firefi

ghters Toys For Tots committee is very excited to be partnering once again with the Kam River Fighting Walleye, and their ownership and management group,” said Penna. “We have had a relationship with the Walleye for a few years now. These are uncertain times and there are children in this community that need our help more than ever before! Toys For Tots has a long history of giving, this is our most important year ever, and we are thankful for the support and partnership of the Kam River Fighting Walleye. The proceeds of the Walleye's 50/50 draw will no doubt go a long way towards making Christmas wishes come true for several less fortunate children in our community. Go Walleye Go! Happy Holidays to everyone...stay safe!”

“We hope our community will get behind this and we are able to give a big donation to Toys for Tots and a huge payday to the lucky winner,” said Geddes. “The Walleye will be partnering up and supporting a different charity every month through their 50/50 draw. It is an important mandate for Dorsal Fin Entertainment Group to give back to the community that supports our team. Whether it’s through initiatives like this, or with our players and staff giving back to our community through volunteering, it is a big part of who we are,” Geddes concluded.
