Gallaher Commits to Maryville

The Kam River Fighting Walleye are pleased to congratulate ‘02 forward Logan Gallaher on his commitment to Maryville University and their ACHA Division 1 Hockey Program for the ‘23-‘24 season.

The 20 year old native of Upland, California played 21 games for the Walleye this season, posting 6 goals, 5 assists, and 112 penalty minutes.

“It’s been a long road, but a huge goal of mine has finally been achieved,” Gallaher said. “I couldn’t have done it without the amazing  staff, volunteers, and teammates that this great organization has. I can’t thank everyone  enough for all the hard work they have put in to make this dream a reality. I may be moving on, but ‘once a fish always a fish’ and I’ll always consider Oliver Paipoonge home.”

Gallaher played the better part of two seasons for the Orange and Black. After coming to Kam River from the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the SJHL at the 2022 CJHL trade deadline, he put up 6 points in 10 playoff games during the Walleye’s inaugural full season in the SIJHL. Gallaher suffered a career-threatening neck injury earlier in ‘22-‘23, but his work ethic and perseverance allowed him to overcome the injury and return to the lineup late in the season.

“ We couldn’t be more proud of this young man,” said GM Kevin McCallum. “A couple months ago he was told he wouldn't play hockey again and with his determination and hard work here we are. Maryville is getting a true leader and team player. I look forward to seeing how well Gally does on and off the ice,” McCallum said.

In total, Gallaher played 59 regular season games in tier 2 Junior A, amassing 17 points and 198 PIM.

Maryville’s Assistant Coach and Director of Scouting & Recruiting, Jeff Crenshaw, is looking forward to what Gallaher will bring to his lineup. “We are extremely excited to add Gally to the Maryville Hockey family,” Crenshaw said. “He checks all the boxes that we look at when in the recruiting process: hockey IQ, coachability, toughness, and a great human being. We can't wait to see what he does at the next level. We think he will be a fan favorite for Saints Nation!"
